EDITING SERVICES
All services available in US and British English.
All services (including pay-what-you-can and free) come with contracts and are treated as full-paying customers.
See below for a list of available services and prices. I offer a small number of pay-what-you-can edits for underrepresented and/or financially struggling clients.
Developmental edits – for big picture items
A read through of your manuscript assessing ‘big picture’ items. This is a full review of your manuscript’s structure and content. This includes plot holes, dialogue, characterization and character arcs, pacing, action sequences, structure and style, flow and phrasing. This is ideally the first step in any edits and is far less single-minded than specialized edit types.
Service includes one full read through of your manuscript, editorial letter highlighting areas for improvement and one round of follow-up questions.
Copy edits – for the details
A read through of your manuscript assessing grammar, syntax and punctuation. I will check/correct grammar and syntax mistakes and spelling errors. I will make sure that your manuscript is consistent in terms of spelling, punctuation, fonts etc. As well as this, your manuscript will be checked for consistency in character traits and settings, and ambiguous or incorrect information (for information based on real world facts, or in-world facts that have been previously mentioned.)
Service includes one full read through of your manuscript, an editorial letter if needed to address certain issues and one-round of follow up questions.
Line edits-for help finding the right words
A read through of your manuscript assessing all word and sentence usage. I will check for run-on sentences, confusing narratives, overused words, unnatural dialogue and phrasing, repetitions, and other common writing/pacing problems. If needed, line edits can also help reduce or increase word-count (within reason) as required.
Service includes two full read throughs of your manuscript, an editorial letter if needed to address certain issues and one round of follow-up questions.
Sensitivity reads-for the biases you can’t see
A read through of your manuscript assessing all representation of specific minority groups that I have experience with/in. This will help make sure that your manuscript portrays these communities in a non- harmful, non-stereotypical way.
Service includes two full readthroughs of your manuscript, editorial letter highlighting areas for improvement and one round of follow-up questions. Specializations: LGBTQIA+, Autism, ADHD, Depression, Generalized anxiety disorder, selective mutism, Borderline Personality Disorder, Dissociative disorders (including DID.)

Reviews-so you know what you’re getting into
I can honestly say this is the best editing experience I’ve ever had. The amount of encouragement, skillful suggestions, and genuine understanding of how to get the best out of an author whilst maintaining their vision and style is unparalleled. I would recommend Jessie to anyone and would love to collaborate again in future. -Lauryn Green (Developmental edit and copy edit)
Jessie really went in on this review! Grammar, sentence structure, character and overall plot review (and more!). I couldn’t ask for a better work-up – it made sense, the suggestions were well within the realm of being needed and I did not disagree with anything! Also their comments really encouraged me to keep going. It was very mentor/mentee oriented. Thank you for everything! -Alex Andria (Developmental edit and copy edit)
Jessie provided thorough and solid feedback for my first three chapters. She provided editing suggestions and character motivations. It was very helpful and I’ll be utilising her feedback in my manuscript. -Kellie Riek (Developmental edit and copy edit of first three chapters)
